Optimization of Power Quality Using the Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) with Unbalanced Loads

The power quality (PQ) is a major issue for both electrical utilities and their customers. nonlinear loads cause PQ problems like current harmonics, voltage frequency deviation, sag swell. A unified conditioner (UPQC) utilized in this research to minimize these problems. UPQC made up of two active filters (APFs), one which connected the line series other parallel. Unit Vector Template Generation (UVTG) approach used control APF, whereas Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) technique shunt APF. compensating properties series-shunt APFs when become imbalanced have been explored. system performance has tested under conditions sag, harmonics are identified reparation APF using UVTG technique, unbalanced currents SRF method. An IEEE-519-compliant THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) less than 5% achieved by simulations with loads. findings indicate that harmonic supply fluctuations were lessened UPQC.
